Master student working on corrosion of pre-oxidized cold spray copper in sulphide-containing solution. The project focuses on converting copper oxide to copper sulphide in aqueous sulphide and chloride solutions. Different methods (e.g., electrochemical, chemical, air-formed, etc.) will be used to form various types of copper oxide. The pre-oxidized cold spray copper will be exposed to aqueous chloride and sulphide solutions, and the conversion mechanism will be investigated via multiple electrochemical measurements and surface analysis techniques. This work provides valuable information for evaluating the long-term performance of the used fuel containers in a deep geological repository.
I joined Noel’s lab around September 2021 as a 4th-year undergraduate research student. I was working on galvanic corrosion in copper-to-carbon steel couples as my 4th-year thesis. I enjoy working here, which makes me stay longer over the summer after my bachelor’s degree as a summer fellowship and spend the next couple of years as a master’s student. I have two cats: Mango and Mocha. Here are some fun facts about my cats: Mango is a quiet and intelligent girl. She is a polydactyl cat, which means she has extra toe beans on her paws!! Mocha is a super energetic and handsome Abyssinian cat who is always hungry 24/7.
