I completed my bachelor’s and master’s of Materials Engineering at the Iran University of Science and Technology (IUST) and the University of Tehran, respectively. I joined Noël’s group in the Chemistry department at Western University in September 2019. I am a Ph.D. candidate, and my research work aims to fill a significant gap between two more well-developed lines of research in our group. Previous and ongoing studies have explored the corrosion of copper under aerated conditions in which oxides can be formed on Cu-coated nuclear waste container in the early stages of emplacement in a waste repository, and other studies have investigated later-stage sulphide-driven corrosion under anoxic conditions. I am evaluating the transition from oxic to anoxic corrosion in the repository and the conversion of copper oxides to sulphides, along with the associated corrosion.
